Safe not Sorry provide a comprehensive approach to occupational health and safety based on practical and academic experience.
We will provide your organisation with all the information and support you need to comply with current legislation and the event industries best practice.
By employing the services of Safe not Sorry you are already showing a commitment to health and safety and complying with existing legislation, that you have “employed or engaged persons who are suitably qualified in relation to occupational health and safety to provide advice to the employer concerning the health and safety of employees of the employer.“
The Safe not Sorry team has worked within the events and exhibition industry for over 20 years.
We understand that there are some tasks that need to be carried out that do have a high residual risk, but this doesn’t mean we will stop this task from continuing. Instead we will work with you and your team to ensure that those tasks are actively managed to ensure that those risks remain “as low as is reasonably practicable”

To complete the risk assessment process, all hazards, where reasonably practicable, need to be identified. It is through the management of these risks including implementation of controls, and in addition the monitoring of the controls effectiveness, that you then actually prove evidence of compliance.
Safe not Sorry has extensive knowledge of the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety legislation in Australia and recognises that the event organiser needs common sense advice to protect the event from the possibilities of litigation.
This includes either criminal via the relevant governing body, i.e.: Worksafe, Local Authorities, Police or other enforcement authorities and civil claims by employees, performers, contractors and members of the public due to a breach of the duty of care owed.
We will produce documentation that is logical and methodical, so you as the event organiser can understand the procedures and take ownership of them.
This could include:
This list of services is not exclusive and can be tailored to meet your event or exhibitions needs.

The overall management of all events needs to be documented in respect of the health, safety and well being of all persons likely to be attending or affected by the event, both on and off the site, including staff and contractors.
Safe not Sorry assist you and your team in putting together all the required OH&S documentation for your event safety management plan.

Imagine discovering post event, that there was a trip hazard during the whole event period. When a situation needs to be resolved that is beyond, we will consult with you to ensure that the ‘show will go on’ with minimum interruption.
Our safety officers are there to support you, identify potential issues and fix them on the spot. But of course you will still receive the report at the conclusion of the event so you can observe the issues that arose.
In addition, having a dedicated safety officer working on the event is a useful and effective tool, particularly in translating some event safety jargon into standardised health and safety language used by Worksafe officers, bridging a potentially huge void.

Our events industry expertise and understanding will assist you in identifying as many possible hazard situations and work with you and your team on how these hazards can be managed or eliminated.

With our comprehensive and common sense approach based on our actual practical and academic experience Safe not Sorry can ensure your event complies with current legislation and industry best practice.
From local community events to major music concerts Safe not Sorry will make certain your safety and emergency planning requirements have been met. We will attend pre and post show meetings with you, local authorities and emergency services as required, ensuring you have the necessary experienced professional advice therefore providing peace of mind.

Australian Occupational Health and Safety legislation imposes a duty, not only for you to provide appropriate procedures in the event of an emergency but also for example that you arrange for the provision of medical facilities, rescue procedures and that you liaise with external agencies.
Event emergency planning is not just for emergency situations but is also a process to identify and prevent incidents escalating significantly and provides you, the event organiser with the means to keep the event open and ongoing.
By providing an honest and clear approach, Safe not Sorry will work with you and your team to provide the event with a comprehensive document that detail what is needed and who are the relevant people to carry it out.
It is essential in these situations that you and your team are familiar with the procedures prior to an incident as no one wants to or does start reading a document at the time of a crisis!
Safe not Sorry can identify and address threats that may occur at your event.
These could include:
To ensure you and your team are confident and feel ready for action Safe not Sorry will attend any pre-event meetings and training sessions, as well as any debrief meetings as required. Safe not Sorry will always provide a written and photographic report of every event they are contracted to be present at.
The creation of an event or exhibition involves a vast array of contractors, subcontractors and staff carrying out different tasks at the same time, in the same place and usually within a very tight timeframe.
Contractors on site at any one time may include stage construction, rigging, lighting, sound, video and security. In such an environment it is essential that everyone has, at the very least, a basic awareness of the hazards that you and others can create or encounter.
Safe not Sorry can create and deliver site specific inductions in person on site or through our online system in partnership with venue induct: www.venueinduct.com.au
